An elegant expression of balance, umami, and terroir — a ceremonial matcha crafted from the rare Okumidori cultivar, nurtured in the serene mountain gardens of Yame.
Grown at approximately 400 meters elevation in the mist-covered hills of Yame, Fukuoka Prefecture, this small-batch ceremonial matcha captures the essence of Japan’s most celebrated terroir for shaded teas. The region’s mineral-rich soil, cool nights, and pure mountain water foster a tea of profound sweetness, clarity, and depth.
Made exclusively from the Okumidori cultivar (おくみどり) — a cross between Yabukita and Asatsuyu officially registered in 1974 — this matcha is renowned for its naturally low bitterness, high L-theanine content, and vivid green color. Shaded under traditional hand-woven canopies for 25days the tea plants accumulate abundant amino acids and chlorophyll, resulting in a deep emerald hue and an exceptional creamy mouthfeel.
After careful hand-harvesting, the leaves are lightly steamed, dried, and stone-milled in micro-batches to preserve their aromatic integrity and fine particle structure. The result is a matcha of superb smoothness — rich in umami yet beautifully balanced, ideal for both Usucha (thin tea) and barista preparations for extra elegance of flavor.
